A coordinating body of International Voluntary Service in Asia & the Pacific
NVDA (Network for Voluntary Development in Asia) was founded in 1997 through the initiative of KAIZAWA Shinichiro, President of NICE Japan, in collaboration with the Coordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service (CCIVS). Eleven international voluntary service NGOs, primarily from the Asia-Pacific region, created a network focused on promoting international voluntary service and fostering collaboration across borders.

Our vision is to build a peaceful, fair, and sustainable Asia and world by bringing people together through international voluntary service and fostering strong, cross-border collaboration.
We empower communities and support NGOs by tackling critical issues such as environmental sustainability, social welfare, education, and poverty. Through our diverse volunteer programs, we strengthen global understanding, foster lasting friendships, and promote solidarity, all aimed at creating a more connected and compassionate world.
NVDA is formed from independent national or international NGOs/NPOs from Asia and Oceania involved in voluntary services. NVDA started in 1997 with 11 NGOs, and today, we have 29 members from 22 countries/areas across Asia-Pacific.
In 2023, NVDA cooperated with IVS networks globally facilitate over 5,111 projects in 90 countries, engaging 30,266 volunteers in a wide range of activities, from environmental conservation to educational outreach. These projects have collectively contributed to the advancement of key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Quality Education (SDG 4), Climate Action (SDG 13), and Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11).
Executive committee members of NVDA are elected during its general assembly that happens every two years.
